the seventh day

Today we toured the ancient Indian cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde, Colorado. It was incredible to see the "apartment buildings" made out of brick, stone, and mud.

The whole dwelling

On the way out of Colorado to the Grand Canyon, we stopped at the Four Corners National Monument; the only place in America where you can be in four states at the same time.

We also drove through part of the Painted Dessert - wet heat or dry heat, 101 degrees is still HOT.

We've seen so many neat things on the road - oil fields in Texas; windmill farms; a dust devil; wild donkeys, horses, a prairie dog and cows; mountains; plains; and today we had to come to a complete stop on the main interstate to let a heard of sheep cross.

We forgot to mention the other day that in the caverns in Carlsbad we heard stories from our tour guide about formations and rooms called "devils den", "devils throne", "headache rock" and many others. Well... my dad found his own "headache rock" and has a welt on his head to prove it.

We've seen so many amazing things and have taken pictures of many of them. Unfortunately pictures don't do the scenery the justice it deserves. However, we promise to bore each and every one of you with them when we get back!! :-)
