the eighth day

Today we traveled an hour to Sedona (southeast of the Grand Canyon) to view canyons and ridges. We took a 3 hour jeep tour which promised some "extreme" 4-wheeling, and they did not disappoint!! Mindy booked the trip, and I got the impression she was second-guessing herself, especially on some of the severely steep inclines/declines ... Dad, Josh and I loved them, like the roller coasters at 6 Flags.

This is us getting ready to start our Pink Jeep tour of the Sedona area. Thanks to the Michaud's for the tip!!

Here are several pictures of sandstone and limestone formations. The views were awesome, especially they higher up we went. The colors and contrasts were truly unique (to what we have seen so far, with the exception of the Painted Desert), including lots of lava rocks of all sizes, which rolled down from the ridge overlooking the valley.

Toward the end of the tour mom and dad got tired of Josh and me and decided to throw us over the edge ... unfortunately for them we hung on. ;-)

You guys are having just too much fun. Since Mindy highly recommends the Sedona 4-wheeling, that'll be a "must" when we visit Arizona next.

We're so relieved the "munchkins" held on for dear life & will be able to finish their travels.

I talked with Great Grampy today, he's sounding like himself & is itching to get home. Guess he's recovering well for being 88!

Josh, sorry the cellphone connection "dropped" us in Arizona, but it was wonderful to hear your voice & say hello. It's hot & HUMID here, so much so Papa Joe didn't want to grill dinner tonight so we cooked it in the oven instead...go figure!

Hugs/love to all, Grammy & Papa Joe

So glad the "pink Jeep" lived up to your expectations! Loved the "hanging on" pictures... funny, we have same ones! All is well here and finally had some luck with Carolina and the medicine!

I'm sorry we missed THAT cancan show. Wow, what great times you guys are having. What do y'all think of the Arizona desert & Tucson...would you'd enjoy visiting us in Mesa? All your pictures are fantastic.

Love to all, Grammy & Papa Joe
